The FBI has issued an alert for Liliana "Lily" Munguia, a 17-year-old Arizona native, who appears to have flown to Iowa with the purpose of meeting someone she connected with online. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, Munguia left her father's house, located in the vicinity of Bapchule on the Gila River Indian Reservation, in the early morning hours of Aug. 5.
After leaving her home around 1:30 a.m., it has been discovered that Munguia purchased a plane ticket, taking a flight from Mesa, Arizona, to Des Moines, Iowa. As per the AZFamily report, Munguia has been in touch with her family after her arrival in Iowa but has not been heard from since that brief communication.
Munguia is described as a Native American girl measuring 5′2″ and weighing 125 pounds with distinguishing features such as black hair, brown eyes, and a mole on the left side of her neck. The FBI has released surveillance photos from Iowa depicting her wearing a gray collared shirt, brown pants, boots, and carrying a tan backpack.
Concerns revolving around the teen's safety are intensified by the fact she met the individual online. The FBI's Phoenix Field Office encourages anyone with information to reach out at 623-466-1999, or to submit tips anonymously through their online portal at tips.fbi.gov.
