In partnership with Ric-Man Construction FL, Inc., the city is gearing up to install a fresh 60-inch effluent force main expected to channel treated wastewater from the George T. Lohmeyer Wastewater Treatment Plant directly to its injection wells.
From Monday, August 5, construction crews will embark on this key initiative which includes not just the main installation but also the widening of Eisenhower Boulevard, utility relocation, roadway resurfacing, and restoration of drainage systems, night work during the week will minimize traffic disruptions and the endeavor is set for completion in the fall of 2026, according to details provided by the City of Fort Lauderdale's official announcement.
Motorists should expect lane closures, with one lane in each direction of Eisenhower Boulevard between SE 18th Street and SE 20th Street being affected during the construction phase. Traffic professionals are going to be on-site to guide vehicles and mediate any congestion, however, the city has signaled no plans for full road closures or rerouting traffic, pledging to keep residents informed with regular updates on the city's website.
