Early yesterday morning, a dispute between two parties escalated into gunfire at Focuz Lounge on Shelby Oaks Drive in Memphis, leaving four people injured. According to Action News 5, the Memphis Police Department reported that the shooting occurred just before 1:30 a.m. Three women and a man were taken to the hospital with non-critical injuries after officers arrived at the scene.
Additional details provided by FOX13 Memphis asserts that the violence took place inside the Focuz Lounge, a known restaurant and nightlife spot. The suspected shooter fled in white vehicle, sparking an ongoing investigation to locate the individual. In the chaos, officers found five cars vandalized and collected several shell casings from different caliber weapons around the rear parking lot.
In a more detailed account of events, Local Memphis reported that officers responded to a flurry of 911 calls, and upon arrival, found a woman shot in the venue's bathroom. Her daughter had been grazed by a bullet. Two other victims presented themselves to the officers—one having walked up to the police to declare he had been shot and another who was located by the venue's security officer.
The surveillance footage at the lounge, as stated by Local Memphis, captured a man and a woman apparently taking cover behind after the shooting began. The primary suspect, described as a black man wearing a black shirt and dark jeans, was seen pulling out a handgun and opening fire. Meanwhile, another individual retrieved a firearm from an Optima and returned shots, as two additional shooters appeared in a white Dodge Charger contributing to the gunfire. Despite video evidence of an other individual seemingly injured, the person's condition remains unverified as police had not made contact.
The investigation into finding the suspects and understanding the full context behind the shooting is ongoing.
