Two Indian nationals, based in Fresno, California, are facing serious drug distribution charges following a grand jury indictment in Boston. Simranjit Singh, 28, and Gusimrat Singh, 19, have each been charged with conspiracy to distribute significant quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine, according to a press release by the U.S. Attorney's Office.

The pair was apprehended on July 29, 2024, after purportedly delivering about 65 pounds of methamphetamine to undercover agents in Andover. The arrest led to the discovery of more than 400 kilograms of suspected cocaine, with an estimated street value exceeding $10 million. The two men are currently detained and have been since their arrest last month.

According to authorities, the seizure stemmed from an investigation into a Californian drug-trafficking organization looking to move methamphetamine and other illegal substances to Boston. The operation took a turn when a white tractor trailer pulled up to a predetermined address and handed off the contraband to federal agents in waiting. The subsequent search of the vehicle led to the sizable cocaine find.

Acting U.S. Attorney Joshua S. Levy announced the indictments yesterday, with commendations for the collaborative effort among federal and local law enforcement agencies, including Homeland Security Investigations and the Massachusetts State Police. The charges against the accused could lead to a mandatory minimum of 10 years to life in prison and a fine of up to $10 million.

This case is part of the larger Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces Strike Force Initiative, which integrates efforts of various agencies to target and dismantle criminal networks involved in drug trafficking and related offenses. As stressed in a Justice Department statement, the allegations against the defendants are presently just that — allegations. The Singh duo remain innocent until if and when proven guilty in a court of law.
