The Friends of Chandler Public Library, a nonprofit organization, has announced a hefty $240,000 donation to the Chandler Public Library for the upcoming 2024-2025 fiscal year. This latest contribution underscores the group's ongoing commitment to support library services and programs across Chandler's four library branches.
According to a recent press release, the nonprofit is fueled by donor generosity, corporate sponsorships, and profits from used book sales. Tara Anglin, the library's community engagement program manager, expressed enthusiasm for the funding, stating, “The Friends have committed a very generous amount to support ongoing programming at Chandler libraries. This gift will empower librarians and staff to continue providing engaging and innovative initiatives that enhance the quality of life, and advance learning opportunities to community residents.”
The injection of funds will bolster a variety of projects including adult literacy classes, and early childhood reading programs, along with unique offerings like the Makery and the “Our Stories” speaker series. The annual gift also paves the way for new tech-savvy resources such as free access to LinkedIn Learning for CPL cardholders.
Significantly, $135,000 of the total gift will go toward the creation of a mobile Chandler Public Library vehicle, deemed the fifth branch, and expected to launch in 2025. This initiative is particularly anticipated to expand the library's reach by bringing materials and programs directly to the community. With National Nonprofit Day just around the corner on August 17, residents are encouraged to support the Friends of the Library by snapping up used books at the Downtown or Sunset branches, or by contributing online donations, which are welcomed throughout the year.
