
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has been called to assist the Camilla Police Department in the investigation of a shooting that occurred in Camilla, GA. According to a press release posted on the GBI's official website, the incident happened on Thursday, August 22, prompting local authorities to call for GBI's expertise shortly after the event unfolded.
Two men, ages 19 and 22, were reported to have been shot unintentionally by another 19-year-old man at a mobile home located within the 5000 block of Lori Lane. Upon their arrival, Camilla Police found the victims and quickly rendered medical aid. Both injured parties have had to be moved to out-of-county hospitals to quickly undergo further medical procedures due to the severity of their injuries.
In an effort to clarify the events leading to the shooting, the GBI and the Camilla Police interviewed witnesses and collected evidence. As the GBI press release explains, "the shooting was unintentional, and the men were not targeted." The ongoing health condition of the two victims remains a concern while the GBI and local prosecutors consider potential charges, though none have been filed at present.
