The Grand Rapids Police Department is actively seeking assistance in identifying a woman who was fatally injured in a vehicular accident on Breton Avenue SE just south of 28th Street. The crash, which occurred approximately at 12:40 a.m. this morning involved an SUV that slammed into a tree. According to FOX 17, the impact was severe enough to require both occupants to be extricated from the vehicle by the Grand Rapids Fire Department.
The unidentified woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the male driver was rushed to a hospital with injuries deemed potentially life-threatening. FOX 17 reported that speed is believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash, but the presence of drugs or alcohol has not been determined. The investigation by local authorities into the exact cause is still ongoing.
Efforts by GRPD to ascertain the identity of the deceased have, so far, been unsuccessful.
