Authorities are conducting a death investigation following the discovery of a body in Portland's Parkrose neighborhood. According to a police report yesterday morning, the Portland Police Bureau's North Precinct officers were summoned to the 10700 block of Northeast Fremont Street.
The call, which was received at approximately 12:58 a.m., led police to find a deceased individual, whose gender could not be immediately ascertained due to the state of the remains, the investigation was subsequently taken over by homicide detectives who are now scouring the site for evidence and they encourage anyone with information to come forward. Detective Jeff Sharp and Detective Tony Harris have been named as contacts for those who may have relevant details, their email addresses and phone numbers have been provided for the public to share any useful insights into the case which has been cataloged under the number 24-215258, as reported by the Portland Police Bureau.
While the incident has not affected vehicular flow, it has paused operations on the adjacent railroad network. The Portland Police Bureau has assured that no traffic closures have been implemented, thus the daily bustle of the neighborhood persists with minimal disturbance; commuter trains, however, will be on hold until law enforcement declares the scene clear.
In due course, the identity of the victim along with the cause of death will be confirmed by the Medical Examiner, and only then will the information be released to the public after ensuring that the victim's family has been duly notified. As the investigation unfolds, the Police Bureau has promised more updates when they become appropriate.
