
A serious car accident in Ionia County left two people hospitalized yesterday after a vehicle failed to yield, resulting in a collision that ejected both the driver and a passenger. WZZM 13 reported the crash occurred on Stage Road near Luce Road when a car going westbound on Luce did not yield to southbound traffic on Stage, leading to the tragic wreck.
Fenwick's 38-year-old woman driver was ejected from her vehicle, while her 14-year-old passenger was partially thrown out during the crash, according to the details provided by WOODTV. Both were taken to a Grand Rapids area hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries after the southbound vehicle they were in, flipped over as a result of the crash.
The driver who caused the accident suffered minor injuries and was treated at the site of the crash. MLive notes the at-fault driver's identity has not been released, but the Ionia County Sheriff's Office is handling a detailed investigation into the incident.
The crash, which happened at around 4:15 p.m., was significant enough to send an automatic alert from a phone about the vehicle incident, leading to the prompt response of deputies at the scene, as reported by WOODTV. Both victims, whose names have not yet been disclosed, were admitted for medical care following the accident.
