Nashville's streets have become a tad safer as Thaddous Baskette, 30, of Joelton, was apprehended by Vehicle Crimes detectives as one of the MNPD’s Most Wanted suspects. The arrest occurred yesterday on Lebanon Pike at Central Pike, marking an end to a multi-month spree of alleged criminal activities. According to the Nashville Police Department, Baskette's spree included grand theft auto and aggravated assault.
On June 21, in an event that reads straight from an action flick, Baskette is accused of stealing a Dodge Ram pickup on Greenbrier Road before running over the vehicle’s owner as he made his escape. The victim, left with severe injuries, required over a week’s hospitalization. In a further violation of the person's property, the assailant is charged with using the victim's credit cards at a Zmart on Dickerson Pike, where surveillance was crucial in identifying Baskette.
The string of crimes Baskette is tied to didn't end there. In July, he reportedly expanded his illicit collection with a Mack dump truck, tools from Harper Road, a Honda four-wheeler on Cato Road, and made an attempt at stealing a Ford Ranger as well. It's a cascade of criminal chapters that, put together, suggest a disregard for the law so resolute, it's as if the crushing weight of consequence held no sway.
The tally of Thaddous Baskette’s alleged wrongdoings has resulted in 13 outstanding arrest warrants covering a gamut of charges including especially aggravated burglary, aggressive assault, trespassing, vandalism, and vehicle thefts. At the time of his arrest, officers also found him in possession of a glass crack pipe and marijuana. Now, Baskette confronts the legal ramifications of his actions behind bars with a bond set at $163,000.
