Mark your calendars for a day of fun and wellness at the Evergreen State Fair's inaugural Healthy Communities Day. On Tuesday, August 27, fairgoers can combine the thrill of the fair with a focus on health and wellness by participating in a variety of activities and accessing important health services, according to the Snohomish County news release.

As part of the event, guests are encouraged to collect a Healthy Communities Day passport and explore booths dedicated to health. The offerings include games, health-related activities, and informational stalls, as well as complimentary services like immunizations, blood pressure readings, and blood glucose screenings. Offering a quieter, calmer fair experience from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., the annual Morning of Dreams will cater to individuals with sensory needs or who prefer avoiding large crowds and loud noises. "We're thrilled to partner with the Evergreen State Fair for 'Healthy Communities Day,'" Dr. James Lewis, Health Officer for Snohomish County Health Department, said in a statement on the county's official website. "This collaboration allows us to reach residents with important resources, encouraging healthy living in a fun and accessible way. Together, we're creating a stronger, healthier Snohomish County."

The general public can join the festivities when the gates open at 10:30 a.m., with activities planned throughout the day until the gates close at 10 p.m. Admission to Healthy Communities Day is included with the regular gate fee to the fair. Activity passports and giveaways will be provided while supplies last.

Mike Ohlsen, Fair Manager, expressed his enthusiasm, "The Evergreen State Fair has always been an important part of the Snohomish County community, and we are very excited to now be a hub to connect communities to health resources and organizations." Fairgoers can look forward to engaging offerings, such as health services from Washington State Department of Health's Care-a-Van, assistance with Apple Health enrollment, and novel educational experiences including a walk through a giant inflatable colon presented by Fred Hutch Cancer Center. Spinning the Wheel of Germs with a health educator and answering some germ-y trivia, don't forget to bring excitement to the event while educating on everyday health practices, as reported by the official county announcement.
