The beloved two-day Drool Party is returning to the Kingsport Aquatic Center this summer. Tails will be wagging as pooches of all breeds and sizes get to frolic in the facility's outdoor water park, a much-anticipated event that signals the end of another hot summer season. But this year, there's an extra treat in store: a new session exclusively for the small doggos.
"We’re excited about adding a third session to this year’s Drool party, one specifically aimed at small breeds, such as Terriers, Dachshunds and Chihuahuas," Aquatics Program Coordinator Madison Gump expressed, as per the City of Kingsport, Tennessee. The Kingsport Aquatic Center has considered feedback from pet owners over the years, leading to this additional session catering to pets under 25 pounds whose tiny paws might prefer a break from their larger counterparts.
The Drool Party tradition, spanning over a decade, is a local favorite, turning the pool over to four-legged friends for their taste of water-bound joy. Scheduled for the evenings of September 6 and 7, with the small dog session from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on the latter day, the gathering is expected to draw a big crowd. Admission is set at a budget-friendly $5 per dog, and owners get in free, though there is a limit of two dogs per person. Handlers must be over 18 and bring leashes, as detailed by the City of Kingsport, Tennessee.
Dog owners should remember to pack vaccination records for their canine companions, as entry to the Drool Party requires up-to-date vaccines, including Parvo, Distemper, and Rabies. Bordetella, while not mandatory, is highly recommended.
