Two juveniles have been taken into custody by the authorities in connection with a slew of car burglaries that have recently hit the community. According to the Lady Lake Police official statement, these arrests occurred following a call about suspicious activity around 1 a.m. on August 23, where residents in the Water Oak community reported two suspicious males loitering in a carport.
An increase in similar incidents had prompted Lady Lake Police to deploy a night detail team, which, alongside active patrol units, located two 15-year-old juveniles. The youths, matching the description provided in the caller's video footage, attempted to flee but were apprehended by officers before they could evade the law's grasp. Found with evidence related to the car burglaries, they were scooped right off the streets where they stood accused of rifling through several vehicles.
The investigation revealed that the suspects were not merely out for a late-night jaunt, they were also charged with 25 previous incidents. This included multiple counts of burglary to a conveyance and grand theft auto, indicating a repeated pattern of disregard for property and law. Evidence found on their persons linked them to the very crimes that had unsettled the Water Oak neighborhood that evening.
Despite the gravity of their alleged crimes, the juveniles were processed at the Lake County Jail and subsequently released back into the care of their parents, bearing notices to appear in court.
