Julie Ann Sulpizio, 48, has been indicted by a grand jury in connection with the fatal August 2 ambush of three Lake County sheriff's deputies. In the indictment, according to FOX 35 Orlando, Sulpizio faces a principal to first-degree murder charge for the death of Master Deputy Bradley Link, age 28. Deputies Stefano Gargano and Harold Howell, both injured in the incident, are identified as the victims of attempted first-degree murder charges.
In a news release reported by WFTV, the grand jury returned a true bill of indictment against Sulpizio, comprising several charges. These include principal to murder in the first degree of a law enforcement officer – premeditated, three counts of principal to attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder – premeditated, battery on a law enforcement or other officer, and three counts of battery.
The State Attorney's Office of the Fifth Judicial Circuit, after convening a grand jury, stated that there was sufficient evidence to proceed with the charges. As reported by FOX 35 Orlando, under Florida law, a grand jury is mandatory for any case where the death penalty may be a consideration.
State Attorney Bill Gladson highlighted the case's qualification for the death penalty, though a decision by the State Attorney's Office remains pending, with a 45-day window to determine their course of action. Having been charged with these serious offenses, Sulpizio is being held without bond, as further noted by FOX 35 Orlando.
