
The Los Angeles Police Department reported the arrest of Dimitrios Vlahopouliotis in connection with an arson incident at Central Station on the morning of August 26, 2024; Vlahopouliotis, who is 37 years old, allegedly set fire to an object in front of the station's entrance, an act that was captured on surveillance footage, which can be viewed here.
Authorities were alerted at approximately 7:15 a.m. to the fire, which was swiftly extinguished by the on-duty officers, thankfully resulting in no injuries during this potentially dangerous situation; subsequently, a thorough search of the area led to the arrest of the same suspect they identified from the video, placing him at the Metropolitan Detention Center with a bail set at $110,000.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office filed one count of arson of a structure against Vlahopouliotis on August 28, 2024, furthering a legal trajectory for the case.
