A recent road rage incident in Largo, Florida, has resulted in serious injuries for 23-year-old Jermeria Holycross and the arrest of 57-year-old Boris Twillman on charges of attempted murder. On August 10, Holycross was traveling with her younger brother and her boyfriend's two toddlers when Twillman reportedly began tailgating her and subsequently struck her vehicle. When Holycross exited her car to assess the damage during the traffic stop, Twillman is said to have accelerated into her, pinning her against her car.
The trauma inflicted upon Holycross includes a broken pelvis in four places, a broken leg, a broken rib, facial lacerations, and extensive burns across her back. Witnesses at the scene described a harrowing event with the children in the car initially believing Holycross had been killed. "They were screaming and they were saying that baby girl just got killed," Tammy Holycross, Jermeria's mother, recalled in an interview obtained by FOX 13 News.
Following the incident, police located Twillman's Jeep at his residence, but he was not there at the time. It was later when Twillman contacted local law enforcement, claiming to know about the incident without admitting involvement. Details from the police report indicated that Twillman had smiled at Holycross before striking her, which was detailed in the report covered by The Miami Herald.
Holycross is hospitalized with injuries from the road rage incident, which has also deeply affected her family. Her brother and her boyfriend's children were present during the attack. "He was screaming hysterically. I knew something was wrong. I couldn't pinpoint what it was because he couldn't get it out. He just said he killed my sister," Tammy Holycross told ABC Action News. Twillman's arrest for attempted murder is a serious blow to the Holycross family and the local community.
