As the autumn leaves begin to decorate the sidewalks of Las Cruces, the City's Parks and Recreation Department is prepping up for a lively Fall Break Camp for young students. Scheduled from Monday, Sept. 23 through Friday, Oct. 4, the camp caters to children enrolled in kindergarten through fifth grade, providing a safe and engaging space during the schools’ Fall Break and Intersession. According to the City of Las Cruces, camp hours will extend from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., ensuring a full day of activities and care.
Parents looking to keep their kids busy and enriched during the break will find the camp's $20 per participant fee a reasonable expense. Located at both Meerscheidt Recreation Center and the WIA Building, the departments have planned activities that blend play with education. Indoor and outdoor play, arts and crafts, and games are lined up, alongside guest speakers and field trips that might carry additional fees. Nutritional needs are covered as well, with breakfast and lunch being provided to every camper.
Registration for this well-rounded program opens up on Monday, Sept. 9. Las Cruces families are encouraged to act swiftly as space is limited and slots are filled on a first-come first-served basis. Registrations can be conveniently made online or in person at several locations, including the Parks and Recreation Department Administrative Office, Meerscheidt Recreation Center, Las Cruces Regional Aquatic Center, and Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center, during their respective business hours.
