The incident, which unfolded in the 1000 block of Long Beach Boulevard, is subjected to a rigorous examination as mandated by Senate Bill 1421 and Assembly Bill 748, legislation that stipulates the disclosure of records and evidence in such encounters.
The department provided the video to the public, which contains graphic content and a warning that some may find it disturbing.
Conducting a thorough multi-layered review, the officer-involved shooting is under scrutiny not only by the Police Department but also by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, having an independent investigation currently underway.
