Last Friday evening, approximately 50 masked adolescents engaged in a coordinated act of vandalism and theft at a 7-Eleven located in the Pico-Robertson neighborhood, near Olympic and La Cienega Boulevards in Los Angeles County. According to CBS Los Angeles, the incident unfolded swiftly at around 8 p.m., with the group entering the store and rapidly beginning to ransack the premises.
The teens were reported to have arrived and fled the location using bicycles, leaving before the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a panic alarm activated by the store clerks. The police confirmed that several cigarette packs were among the stolen items, but they have not yet managed to arrest anyone related to the event. The footage captured by the store's surveillance system, as ABC7 reported, shows the teenagers taking various items off the shelves, including snacks and drinks, and causing a significant amount of disruption inside the business.
Further detailing the theft, FOX LA released video evidence showing the group as they stormed the store, wearing masks to conceal their identities. While the security footage revealed the chaos, it also captured the act of looting, with some culprits jumping over the counter and others grabbing goods uncontested. The aftermath left the store with wasted inventory and probably thousands of dollars in losses.
Despite the clear imagery of the crime and the promptness of the clerks in signaling for help, the LAPD has yet to make any progress in apprehending the suspects. The teens managed to effectively disappear into the city at night on their bikes, leaving the authorities with the task of piecing together their identities.
