A Mableton neighborhood became the unexpected scene of a double shooting that escalated into a homicide investigation on Monday. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the incident occurred around 2:11 p.m. during a domestic disturbance along Denny Lane near Boggs Road. Cobb County Police responded to the scene where two men were found with gunshot wounds.
The victims were identified as David Brooks, 34, and Stephen Hulsey, 65, both residents of Mableton. As stated by investigators, Brooks sustained multiple gunshot injuries which later claimed his life after being admitted, to the intensive care unit of Wellstar Cobb Medical Center. His death marks a tragic end to the day's events. On the other hand, Hulsey was wounded in the leg but is expected to survive.
The origin of the dispute remains under investigation, with authorities revealing that the shooting was connected to a domestic situation. The specific circumstances that lead to the argument and subsequent gunfire are still being pieced together by the detectives of the Cobb County Police Major Crimes Unit.
