Maitland residents, mark your calendars and plan your waste accordingly — the city is observing Labor Day with a day off for municipal offices and a shift in trash collection schedules. According to an announcement made on the city's official website, Maitland City Hall along with other city offices will be closing their doors on Monday, Sept. 2, and will resume operations at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
Alongside the closure of offices, services for residential garbage and recycling pickup will be put on pause for Labor Day. Instead, recycling will be collected on the following Saturday, Sept. 7. As for your regular trash, you'll have to hold on to it until the next scheduled pickup date.
Residents are advised to adjust their disposal plans accordingly and to expect delays due to the altered schedule. Labor Day weekend, often associated with family gatherings and outdoor cookouts, may generate additional waste, so planning is essential.
