
A man is in critical condition after an incident on the CTA Red Line in Englewood early Tuesday morning. Chicago police report that a man in his late 30s was found on the tracks at the 69th Red Line Station, having come into contact with the electrified third rail. According to a Chicago Tribune article, the incident took place around 2:30 a.m., with the man suffering burns to his body.
Upon discovery, the man was unresponsive and was urgently taken to UChicago Medicine. ABC7 Chicago states that authorities saw the individual jump off the platform and subsequently fall onto the high-voltage rail. Detectives are now to actively investigate the circumstances surrounding the event. The incident has not been reported to cause any significant delays in the Red Line service that day.
