
Early Sunday morning, a man was killed in a traffic collision after his vehicle entered an intersection against a red light on Chicago's Southwest Side. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the incident took place around 1:30 a.m. in the 3600 block of West 47th Street in Archer Heights, when the driver of a silver sedan was struck by a white SUV.
Chicago police detailed that the sedan was moving southbound when it ignored, the traffic signal and proceeded into the path of the northbound SUV. The collision resulted in significant injuries to the driver of the sedan, who was later transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital, as reported by CBS News Chicago. There, he was pronounced dead, authorities said. The current state of the SUV driver has not been reported, with no information provided regarding potential injuries.
As per CBS News Chicago, the Major Accident Investigation Unit of the Chicago police is actively looking into the crash, signaling an ongoing effort to uncover the sequence of events that led to this fatal encounter.
