
Early Friday morning, tragedy unfolded on the South Side of Chicago as a man was shot while driving, leading to a collision that also injured a woman and a 1-year-old boy. The incident began at approximately 4:15 a.m. in the 6400 block of South Winchester Avenue, when gunfire erupted, striking the 29-year-old driver in the back. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the victim subsequently crashed into a parked vehicle a couple of blocks south of the shooting location.
The man, to quickly seek safety, lost control of his car, eventually crashing. A 1-year-old boy and a 27-year-old woman, also in the car, were reported to have received "minor" injuries due to the collision. Both were transported to St. Bernard Hospital, where they were listed in good condition. The gunshot victim was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center. As detailed by ABC 7 Chicago, his condition was also stabilized to fair following the incident.
As of now, no suspects have been taken into custody. Area One detectives lead the investigation, as per ABC 7 Chicago.
