The Marietta History Center is opening its doors this September for a day packed with activities for families and book lovers alike, as announced in a recent release from the City of Marietta. On Saturday, September 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., visitors can attend the monthly Pop-In event which is dedicated to "Books, Books, Books!" this time around, giving kids and adults the chance to dive into the world of literature through various hands-on events.
The family-focused event, buoyed by giveaway books and the charming presence of local authors, showcases the generosity of Cauthorn, Owen, and Sanders who are ensuring the event remains free for all attendees; the Marietta Pop-In has become a staple for engaging families with the past, present, and future of their community, it's a chance for kids to get their hands on books, meet rabbits and reptiles from the Georgia House Rabbits Society and Georgia Reptile Society, and to interact with local scouts and book aficionados while all of this happens in the heart of Marietta.
Families looking for a unique way to spend their weekend should note the event details: The Pop-In fun takes place at the Marietta History Center located at 1 Depot Street, Marietta, GA 30060. Cobb Library will bring their Georgia Room to life and the Cobb Bookmobile will be stationed in Atherton Square from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. With the agenda also including performances from Bach 2 Rock at noon and appearances by the Atlanta Typewriter Club, the schedule promises a day rich with cultural education and exploration.
According to the City of Marietta, this month's Pop-In highlights local literary talent with authors Rosalind and Maggie Bunn presenting their book "All Aboard Georgia," one of many attractions that represent local historical and cultural organizations like the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta. Also, the variety of interactive experiences is designed to ignite a curiosity in the region's history while connecting people through stories and educational experiences, but remember that events and participants are subject to change unannounced.
