Mesa is gearing up for a city-wide day of service on Love Your City - National Day of Service set for September 7, and the call for volunteers is out. With action kicking off in the cool of the morning, start times for various projects are set between 7:00 A.M. and 9:00 A.M., wrapping up by the noon hour to beat the heat.
Spread across each city council district, the Saturday of service includes a range of initiatives. Volunteers can engage in a variety of activities, such as contributing to a garden build at Paz de Cristo, helping restore the fence at Alston House, a site soaked deeply in historical relevance, and participating in clean-up efforts for local parks and alleys. There's also curb number painting on the docket, which aids first responders in emergencies. Various projects within Mesa Public Schools also await willing hands.
