Early Saturday morning, Mesa police responded to a dire situation that turned deadly. As reported by FOX 10 Phoenix, a man reportedly experiencing a seizure near Main Street and Mesa Drive was soon discovered to have been shot. Despite prompt and active efforts to save the man, the unresponsive victim was pronounced deceased at the scene, a chilling revelation that transformed a possible medical emergency into a crime scene.
Moments later, Antonio Marquez-Mora, a 39-year-old Mesa resident, was found by officials in a nearby parking lot. Officers swiftly apprehended Marquez-Mora, who, according to police statements obtained by AZ Family, admitted to supposedly accidentally shooting the victim, however, this claim has not been substantiated through an investigation. As a result of his alleged admission, Marquez-Mora was booked and stands accused of second-degree murder.
