The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a harrowing incident in Southeast D.C. where a one-year-old child, Jordan Ballard, succumbed to what has now been ruled a homicide. MPD officers responded to a residence on the 1800 block of 18th Street, Southeast last Thursday following a report of an unconscious child.
Despite fervent attempts to save young Ballard's life, he was pronounced dead after being transported by D.C. Fire and EMS to an area hospital in critical condition. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner disclosed on Friday that the child had suffered multiple blunt force injuries. According to the official release, his death is being thoroughly investigated as a homicide.
The MPD is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for any viable information leading to an arrest and conviction in the Ballard case. This tragedy has affected the community of Southeast D.C.
