Miami-Dade County Animal Services is joining hands with shelters across the nation for the 10th annual Clear The Shelters campaign, an initiative coordinated by NBCUniversal Local designed to encourage pet adoptions and support animal welfare efforts. This year's event, set to take place from August 10 to September 10, celebrates a full decade of helping pets find loving homes. Last year, the campaign achieved a remarkable milestone, surpassing 1 million adoptions, and this year, they aim to continue expanding on that achievement, according to information obtained by Miami-Dade County Animal Services.

Annette Jose, Director of Animal Services, expressed the department's enthusiasm for the milestone year. "We are incredibly proud to be part of Clear The Shelters for its 10th anniversary," she told Miami-Dade County Animal Services. The campaign has had a significant impact over the years, evidently making a difference in the lives of animals and the communities around them. The county will be conducting various adoption events and promoting animal welfare throughout the month-long campaign.

The adoption process has been enhanced by the option of virtual adoptions through the WeRescue mobile app, which provides an accessible and efficient platform for potential pet parents to find their future companions. This user-friendly app streamlines the adoption journey, making it possible for adopters to search, apply, and communicate directly with shelters right from their smartphones, as detailed in a statement obtained by Miami-Dade County Animal Services.

Support for the campaign remains strong with Hill’s Pet Nutrition backing the initiative for the seventh year in a row, ensuring that Clear The Shelters continues to grow and make a meaningful impact. Over 150 NBC and Telemundo stations are partnering with more than 1,400 shelters and rescues, to bring attention to pet adoption and animal care, according to official release. And as we've seen, success stories abound from these joint efforts.
