In an update that brought collective relief to a concerned community, a child who was reported missing in Haltom City has been found safe and sound. The 10-year-old girl, known as Willow, had been last seen leaving OH Stowe Elementary School but did not make it home, sparking an urgent search.
The Haltom City Police Department fleetly provided an update via Facebook, announcing that "The child was located near the school safe and with a friend." The post lauded the joint efforts of the community and local law enforcement, stating, "This is a shining example of a community partnering with their police department and accomplishing in MINUTES what used to take hours." The successful resolution involved officers, detectives, Animal Services Officers, and the cooperation of North Richland Hills Police who aided in the search.
Earlier, amidst growing anxiety, the same Facebook channel issued a plea for community assistance after Willow vanished. The original post described Willow’s last known location and clothing, and encouraged residents to check their security footage for any clues.
With the scare turning into relief, the department used this case as a teachable moment for parents and guardians. The Haltom City Police Department expressed gratitude again in their update and provided a gentle reminder: "Tonight at dinner, let's remind our kids that they need to go straight to school or straight home unless a parent knows plans have changed." They asserted the importance of children communicating any deviations in their plans.
