An Illinois woman from the Monee area has hit a stroke of fortune by winning a $1 million prize from a scratch-off lottery ticket given to her by her spouse, as per reports from the Chicago Tribune. The winning scratch-off ticket, a $25 Diamond Crossword game, was purchased at a local shop, Monee Tobacco, located at 5701 West Monee Manhattan Road.
The woman, who has elected to remain unidentified, plans to buy a house with the winnings. "I’ve always dreamed of buying a house. It would be fabulous to finally say ‘We own this home.’ After taking care of a few other necessary purchases, choosing the perfect house for our family will be the top priority," she said, as stated by the Chicago Tribune.
The Chicago Tribune notes that the couple has only shared the news with their children. "The only people we’ve told so far are our kids," the winner recounted. Each person in the family had the same shocked reaction, struggling to believe their million-dollar win was real.
Additionally, Monee Tobacco will be to receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket, as detailed by WGN-TV.
