
In the quiet suburb of Burtonsville, a first-grade teacher from Montgomery County Public Schools has been arrested in connection with a fentanyl-related death, an arrest that spotlights the ongoing opioid crisis that knows no bounds, neither suburb nor urban sprawl. On August 19, Sarah Katherine Magid was taken into custody by the Montgomery County Department of Police, alongside DEA agents, following a search of her home.
The investigation that led to Magid's arrest is tied to a March 2024 incident where a man succumbed to fentanyl toxicity in Washington, D.C., detectives in Montgomery County teamed up with the DEA to trace the last days of the victim, which brought them to Montgomery County and to a contact named "Sarah" through diligent investigation, this "Sarah" was identified as Sarah Magid, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police.
as reported by the Montgomery County Department of Police, evidence led to the issuance of search and seizure and arrest warrants for Magid. She was apprehended without incident and now awaits a bond hearing at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
