Authorities in Moreno Valley conducted a sex registrant compliance sweep, ensuring adherence to registration requirements under Penal Code Section 290, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department reported. On Wednesday, law enforcement officers from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station Investigations Bureau, joined by Riverside County Probation and California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Parole Division, carried out checks at 65 locations, covering 117 registrants.

During these checks, nine individuals were arrested for violating probation or parole terms, and for various felonies, including narcotics-related offenses, and unlawful possession of ammunition. "Offenders who were on probation or parole were also checked to confirm compliance with their court-ordered terms," stated Sergeant Robert Martinez in a press release. Additionally, four registrants were found to be out of compliance with their sex offender registration requirements.

Registrants not in compliance are not just a footnote in some ledger; they are individuals the department is paying close attention to. Follow-up investigations will be initiated on each non-compliant registrant to bring charges in partnership with the Riverside County District Attorney's Office. “Further investigation will be conducted on each registrant in violation of their registration requirements, and charges will be filed with the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office,” the department affirmed.
