In a recent update to an ongoing homicide investigation, Joe Miramontes Jr. has been apprehended on suspicions of murder, according to official reports from the Riverside Sheriff's Department. The 31-year-old Moreno Valley resident was arrested at an apartment complex in Pomona after investigators received a tip regarding his location, and is now being held at the Robert Presley Detention Center.
The arrest was the result of a collaboration between the Riverside Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit, Special Enforcement Bureau, and the Pomona Police Department, with the suspect taken into custody on August 14, 2024, without incident. Injected into the narrative of Riverside County's criminal history, this incident has been closely monitored by local authorities.
Earlier, on the night of August 12, deputies were alerted to an assault with a deadly weapon in a residential community on Bostwick Drive in Moreno Valley. The victim, Gilbert Ramirez, a 30-year-old Moreno Valley man, was found with fatal gunshot wounds. The Riverside Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit (CHU) responded to the scene and later pinpointed Miramontes as the primary suspect. Despite efforts, the suspect had fled the scene before the deputies' arrival, initiating a search that would culminate in the recent apprehension.
Investigators from the Central Homicide Unit are spearheading the ongoing investigation, withholding further details at this time.
