A 53-year-old man lost his life earlier yesterday after crashing his motorcycle in Chesterfield Township. According to Audacy, Chesterfield Township Police responded to a report of a motorcycle crash at approximately 12:53 a.m. at the intersection of Gratiot and Terra Industrial Drive.
The motorcyclist, traveling southbound on Gratiot, "lost control of his motorcycle" and subsequently crashed, as stated by Audacy. The identity of the man has not been disclosed, pending notification of next of kin. It was confirmed that he was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
ClickOnDetroit reports that following the crash, the man was transported to McLaren Macomb Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The collision did not involve any other vehicles, and no further details about the circumstances leading up to the man's loss of control have been released.
Authorities are calling on the public for assistance in the ongoing investigation. "anyone with information about the crash call Detective Kline at 586-949-3573," as stated by The Detroit News. According to Michigan State Police, as of this past Tuesday, there have been 25 fatalities and 143 serious injuries on Michigan roads since August 13, showing a slight decrease compared to the same period in 2023.
