Homicide detectives are actively following up on concrete leads following a deadly shooting that transpired yesterday afternoon. The incident, which took place at approximately 3:30 p.m. in an alley between Hart and Creek Streets, ended the life of a 41-year-old man, as reported by the Nashville Police Department.
While the authorities are in the process of informing the victim's family, witness accounts have surfaced. Heard by them, a single gunshot echoed through the area before a man was seen making his escape on a moped. Arriving officers encountered the man, whose residence was an encampment on Creek Street, suffering from a wound by a gunshot to his torso. Declared dead at the scene, the man had previously been embroiled in an argument over a stolen moped, according to witnesses.
The police are soliciting help from the public to aid in their ongoing investigation. "Anyone with information about the murder is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463", as the official statement from the Nashville Police Department indicates. Assuring anonymity, callers to Crime Stoppers may not only refrain from revealing their identity but also stand to receive a cash incentive, which in cases of homicide can be as formidable as $5,000.
