A fatal collision on Gallatin Pike has resulted in vehicular homicide charges for 22-year-old Giovanni Bolstad after two women were killed Saturday night. The Metro Nashville Police Department reported the incident occurred at the intersection of Gallatin Pike and Cude Lane, where Bolstad, behind the wheel of a Jeep Cherokee, is said to have run a flashing red light and collided with a Ford Focus, as per WSMV.
Running out of Rivergate Mall, a preliminary investigation points toward Bolstad's Jeep Cherokee running the red light before the crash, WKRN notes. Found in the Ford Focus, the 24 and 25-year-old victims succumbed to their injuries, while another individual, 26, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Bolstad was also hospitalized following the tragic event.
Details about Bolstad's background came to light following a post by the Metro Nashville Police Department, which revealed a prior DUI arrest and conviction in 2023. Now, he faces two counts of vehicular homicide by intoxication for his involvement in the fatal crash that took place late last night.
