San Diego's Pacific Beach neighborhood is set to welcome a new Grocery Outlet Bargain Market, providing a budget-friendly shopping option for locals. As reported by FOX 5 San Diego, the discount grocery chain has signed a lease for a storefront that will span 12,365 square feet on Garnet Avenue, the former site of a Crunch Fitness gym.
The upcoming store, expected to open by early 2025, will join other major grocery providers along Garnet Avenue, enhancing the Pacific Beach retail environment. In a transaction represented by Intersection, Grocery Outlet took over the once vibrant fitness center, which had seen its activity frozen since closing in January 2023. "We are gratified to have completed this agreement with Grocery Outlet, whose tenancy will undoubtedly enhance both the asset and the Pacific Beach community," Alec Spencer, senior associate at Intersection, told FOX 5/KUSI.
Since its founding in 1946, Grocery Outlet has expanded to over 400 locations and continues to be a family-led business, as highlighted by SanDiegoVille. The Pacific Beach location will feature a broad range of discounted products, including brand name and private-label groceries. Groceries at discounted prices, which Grocery Outlet is noted for, are anticipated to relieve shoppers amid rising food costs.
According to the details shared by SanDiegoVille, the new Grocery Outlet will offer shoppers value and variety, with an inventory that will include fresh meat, dairy, produce, and organic items, as well as beer, wine, and liquor. The lease period stretches a respectable 11 years ahead and involves a total consideration of $3.7 million, underscoring the retailer's long-term commitment to the neighborhood. The community, ensnared by growing food prices, stands to gain from the store's introduction.
