Firefighters in Carpentersville responded to a significant house fire on Thursday morning that left a home on Sunset Drive with heavy damages estimated at around $150,000. The blaze, reported at 11:38 a.m., saw no civilian or firefighter injuries, as confirmed by the Carpentersville Fire Department, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Upon their arrival at the 200 block of Sunset Drive, crews were greeted with heavy smoke billowing from the first-floor entryway and discovered the source of the fire in the living room. The departments from Algonquin-Lake in the Hills, Barrington, and several other neighboring districts also came assisting in the rescue, where a cat was found saved in good condition amidst the fire investigation, still marching on without a definite cause determined yet, reported the Country Herald.
Following the fire suppression, which included a thorough search of the residence, the Building Department along with utility companies were notified due to the need to address the extensive fire and smoke damage to the structure. The coordinated efforts of the firefighters were essential to the mitigation of an already dire situation.
The probing for the fire's cause is currently in the hands of Carpentersville investigators, keen to unfold the sequence that led to this unfortunate incident, according to the Country Herald.
