A tragic incident unfolded in the Arden-Arcade area where two homeless men were subjected to a brutal attack early Sunday morning, resulting in severe facial stab wounds. As reported by ABC10, one of the men has succumbed to his injuries and died today after being hospitalized in critical condition.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, through spokesperson Sgt. Amar Gandhi, conveyed that such attacks are inherently violent, this was not accidental it was "very up close and personal and to do it to someone, again, right in the face," indicating the calculated nature of the crime; moreover, a local homeless individual, Jose Lopez, expressed to ABC10 his deep-seated fear of the unstable safety situation, especially because of potentially dangerous individuals released from prison.
The stabbings occurred around 4 a.m. near the intersection of Howe Avenue and El Camino Avenue, with the sheriff's office learning of the incident after one of the victims, a man in his 60s, managed to place a 911 call despite his grave injuries, detailed KCRA.
At present, detectives are combing through video surveillance and attempting to locate witnesses, in a bid to identify the suspect responsible for this heinous act, no suspect description is available and anyone with information is urged to contact the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office at 916-874-5115, the investigation remains ongoing and the community is on high alert, while the anonymity of both victims is maintained, only described as a man in his 60s and the other a man in his 30s.
