Authorities are on the lookout for a driver implicated in a fatal hit-and-run incident that claimed a pedestrian's life early Monday morning in Orlando. As reported by WFTV, the collision occurred around 6:07 a.m. near the crossing of East Colonial Drive and Dean Road, a bustling intersection now shadowed by tragedy.
The Florida Highway Patrol disclosed that upon their arrival, they found a pedestrian struck by a vehicle, who was then pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses have described the suspect's vehicle as a red SUV, details that authorities are hoping will rapidly lead to apprehending the driver who chose to quickly flee rather than face the moment's grave consequences.
Traffic on East Colonial Drive was significantly disrupted by the investigation, according to FOX 35 Orlando, with eastbound lanes at Foxbower Road closed as troopers scoured the scene for evidence and worked towards piecing together the events that led up to the fatality.
The Florida Highway Patrol has yet to release further details concerning the victim's identity or the driver involved in the hit-and-run as the investigation is ongoing.
