Monticello travelers take note: the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has announced that the Hwy 25 bridge over the Mississippi River will see closures for the next week, specifically for overnight hours, to allow for essential concrete work on the bridge deck. These disruptions are set to begin tonight and impact travelers until the upcoming Wednesday.
The scheduled closures will run from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., affecting the bridge on Thursday, Aug. 15, Friday, Aug. 16, Tuesday, Aug. 20, and Wednesday, Aug. 21. As a detour, MnDOT is directing traffic to use Hwy. 101 between Rogers, and Elk River, or to take Hwy. 24 from Clearwater to Clear Lake.
This set of overnight closures, however, is subject to change due to weather conditions. The Minnesota Department of Transportation had to reschedule the initial bridge closures that were initially planned for Wednesday, Aug. 14, and Thursday, Aug. 15, following overnight rains that made the initial dates impractical.
For those seeking the latest information and updates on the bridge work, MnDOT has established a project website which can be accessed here. Motorists are encouraged to check this resource before traveling, to ensure the most current details on closures and detour routes are at hand.
