Palm Beach County's Public Affairs Department has raked in a slew of accolades from the National Association of County Information Officers (NACIO), showcasing their commitment to outstanding communication. The department, with its diverse media and communication strategies, emerged as a multiple award-winner in the 2024 NACIO Awards of Excellence competition—a significant feat considering the contest's 200 plus entries.

In a recent press release from the County's newsroom, a detailed rundown of the honors included prestigious recognitions across various categories. The "How to Build an Island" video clinched the Best of Category in Audiovisual-Long Video, while the "This is Our Legacy, State of the County, FY ‘23" secured a Superior award. The "Connect PBC Mobile App Promotional Video" and the "PBC 101 Video Series" picked up Meritorious awards for their respective lengths, painting a broad swath of creative talent. Their Hurricane Preparedness Campaign was deemed Superior in the Campaigns-Public Safety category, reflecting a dedication both to craft and to community wellbeing.

Further solidifying their communication prowess, the County Administrator's Annual Report Fiscal Year FY ‘22 was named Superior in the Printed Publications-Annual Report category. Public Affairs Director Lisa De La Rionda expressed pride in her team's accomplishments, telling Palm Beach County Government, "I am proud of the work and products created by Public Affairs, and these accolades from NACIO affirm my professional opinion. These awards highlight the talents within every division, including Media and Public Information, Digital Marketing and Communication, Channel 20, and Graphics for printing the County Administrator’s Annual Report. Crafting such outstanding products requires a dedicated team effort."

NACIO President Jennifer Finch highlighted the importance of these awards and the benchmarks they set for quality communication, saying, "Your innovative approaches, compelling storytelling, and dedication to your profession are commendable. Congratulations for your outstanding contributions and for setting an example for others.” NACIO, an affiliate of the National Association of Counties (NACo), advocates for the integral role of professional Public Information Officers and communicators in county governments. NACO members are even tapped to serve as judges for the association's annual contests, underscoring the interconnectedness and shared standards of this professional community.
