Peoria is calling on its residents to weigh in on the future of retail and dining in the city. A new survey launched by the city's Economic Development office is inviting public opinion to help shape a strategy for attracting businesses to the local economy. As Peoria looks to expand job opportunities and bolster revenue for city services, including parks and public safety, the role of community feedback is being emphasized as a crucial element in this development process.
Residents have from now until September 15 to make their voices heard on what types of restaurants and retail establishments they want to see in their city. Economic Development Director Jennifer Stein underscored the significance of these preferences in discussions with prospective businesses. "Businesses want to go where they have an eager customer base and we think this survey will be a great tool for us as we pitch Peoria as THE place for business attraction," Stein explained, as stated by the City of Peoria.
The survey can be accessed at the city's dedicated webpage, and the final results are slated to be shared on the same platform. To keep the city's approach fresh and responsive, plans are in place for this survey to become a regular event. "Our intent is to make this a recurring survey, so we can continue to hear from our residents about what they want most and adjust strategies along the way," added Stein.
