Residents and commuters in Pima County should brace for inconveniences as a series of road closures are set to begin this Wednesday. Borderland Construction Company, Inc. will be performing waterline work on multiple streets, disruptions that are slated to last nearly eight weeks, according to information released by Pima County. From August 28 through October 18, between the early morning hours at 6 a.m. and the mid-afternoon at 4 p.m., stretches of roads including Longview Avenue and Spokane Avenue will be sealed off to traffic.
The construction will be undertaken sequentially, each impacted road closure could span up to two days as the crew moves methodically from one junction to the next, the county’s announcement detailed, the work kicking off on Longview Avenue then advancing eastward to Wasson Avenue and the rest with the closure moving from south of Avra Valley Road to Safford Street. Commuters must find alternative routes during these disruptive periods, yet roads will be reopened daily after 4 p.m., providing temporary relief despite the ongoing project.
For those whose daily routes are affected, local access will still be possible. Residents living in the affected regions will be provided entrance to their properties from the southern intersections during the construction times. The county has assured that mandatory detours will be marked, and information on adjusted traffic patterns will be available for the duration of the waterline project.
It is worth noting that construction schedules are not etched in stone, unforeseen complications like a mechanical breakdown or poor weather conditions have the potential to knock projections off course, the county has warned, that residents should stay vigilant and informed as delays could arise.
