Motorists in Pima County should prepare for some delays as roadwork is set to begin next week, starting on Monday, Aug. 26, and continuing through Thursday, Oct. 31. The Pima County Department of Transportation, together with its contractor Southern Arizona Paving, announced a surface treatment project that forms part of the county's Road Pavement Repair and Preservation Program. The maintenance will take place daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at various locations, including stretches of Camino Casa Verde, Continental Road, Abrego Drive, Calle Torres Blancas, and Camino Encanto. Pima County's official announcement detailed the project's scope and its aim to enhance road conditions for local traffic.
The roadwork will consist of setting up traffic control, engaging in the treatment work on the surface, followed by the restriping of the roads. Residents traveling within the work zone advised by the Department to expect lane closures and minor delays. Furthermore, restrictions may be imposed on turn movements due to project area limitations.
Recognizing the potential for disruptions, Pima County has preemptively emphasized that the construction schedule might change due to mechanical failures or adverse weather conditions. With an allocation of $24 million for the 2024/2025 Fiscal Year, the Pima County Board of Supervisors and Transportation Department aims to support the Road Pavement Repair and Preservation Program comprehensively.
