The Jackson County Sheriff's Office reported the discovery of a Medford man's remains, identified as Graham Case, who had been missing since June 22, 2023. According to KOIN, the discovery occurred last Tuesday in a remote, densely forested area off Highway 140 during an unrelated call that led to a drone-assisted search. Case's vehicle, a white Mercedes SUV, was found crashed in the challenging terrain, which had kept it hidden from view for the extended period.
A tip had prompted a broader search received the same day. The subsequent drone search led to the vehicle’s discovery, which precipitated an investigation and confirmed through scientific methods that the skeletal remains belonged to Graham Case. Tragically, his disappearance had left friends and family in a state of unanswered questions and grief for over a year. In a statement obtained by Medford Alert, authorities extended their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
The remains were recovered in a collaborative effort involving the Central Point Police Department Medical Examiner, JCSO detectives, and the SAR Tactical Rope Rescue Team. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office commended the efforts of SAR volunteers and the community for their part in the search that spanned over a year. “Our condolences go out to Graham Case’s family and friends," JCSO said in KVAL media release, acknowledging the collective efforts in this prolonged case.
In a gesture of gratitude, authorities recognized the critical role of locals, including a Medford dentist, Dr. Pearson from East Main Dental Center, who assisted in the identification process. "Thank you to the responding SAR volunteers, the Medford residents who provided Tuesday’s tip, Dr. Pearson from East Main Dental Center in Medford, and everyone over the past year who participated in the search", Jackson County Sheriff’s Office expressed in a media release mentioned by KVAL. No further information regarding the circumstances of the accident or Case's death has been released at this time.
