Commuters in Park Ridge experienced more than the usual rush hour delays Monday evening as a road rage incident quickly escalated into an armed confrontation. According to the Chicago Tribune, at approximately 5:09 p.m., police responded to the intersection of Touhy Avenue and Busse Highway where a shooting had been reported. The altercation involved three vehicles—a gray Hyundai, a dark-colored Honda, and a black Jaguar—and the driver of the Jaguar fired multiple shots at the Hyundai before fleeing eastbound towards Chicago.
Despite the gunfire, police confirmed that no one was injured in the incident. The Hyundai and Honda drivers remained on the scene, while the black Jaguar quickly fled the scene, as reported by the Chicago Tribune. Park Ridge police investigators found several shell casings scattered on the street, prompting them to shut down a portion of Touhy Avenue, a typically busy thoroughfare, between Cumberland and Northwest Highway to conduct their investigation.
An ongoing appeal for witnesses or anyone with relevant information to step forward has been issued. Information can be shared by calling the department at 847-318-5256, as mentioned in a statement obtained by Fox 32 Chicago.
