
Atlanta became the scene of a distressing road rage incident that left one person wounded and another dead. According to the Atlanta Police Department, officers responded to a shooting report on August 20, 2024, around 1:00 p.m. The confrontation occurred near Northside Dr. NW & Marietta St. NW and later near Northside Dr. NW & 10th St. NW.
At the first location, a 51-year-old male victim was discovered with a gunshot wound. Despite his injuries, he was alert, conscious, breathing, and promptly transported to a hospital. At the second scene, officers encountered a three-vehicle accident, wherein a 28-year-old male, one of the drivers, suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound which led to his death at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing, and details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting and the collision are still being scrutinized. In a statement released by the Homicide Unit's commander, Lt. Andrew Smith, preliminary findings were shared with the public. The Atlanta Police Department has not yet identified either individual involved.
