
Hardin County, TN, became the site of an officer-involved shooting that resulted in the death of a robbery suspect last night. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has taken the lead on the case, as stated by WREG. During an encounter in a parking lot situated near Highway 128 South in Savannah, deputies from the sheriff's office confronted the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Jonathan Schutte, hailing from Ardmore, Alabama.
When the deputies made their approach, the suspect—who was in his vehicle at the time—allegedly exited and began firing at law enforcement officers, prompting deputies to return fire. In this exchange, not a single deputy endured an injury, but Schutte sustained fatal gunshot wounds, informed the TBI. As per details reported by WREG, the area of the confrontation was detailed as the 4700 block of Highway 128 South.
An ongoing probe by TBI is expected to shed further light on the incident's circumstances. According to FOX13 Memphis confirmed that no law enforcement officials were harmed during the incident.
